Advantages and Disadvantages

 

Advantages

  • Reduces cost: Making an e-commerce website reduces most of the cost of setting up its own shop in reality such as displaying signs, arranging furniture, putting up the equipment and designs.
  • Worldwide: Could sell much more products to customers globally from different countries and areas.
  • Convenient: The customers could buy the products anywhere just by accessing their website. It also contains various functions and options for the customers to use to find products that suits their own taste.
  • Cookies: E-commerce websites contain cookies that could help the seller check what the buyer has previously purchased which is a necessary information to provide complimentary items,
  • Fast: Customers could buy the products more faster and saves time with just a few clicks. In addition, e-commerce websites could digest large amounts of client information in a short amount of time. 
  • Privacy: The privacy of the clients when buying the products is much higher than buying them in reality since they are in public.

Disadvantages

  • Privacy: When buying a product, the clients will need to enter their personal information which could be hacked and track their location.
  • Comparison: When choosing a product, the picture on the website may be different from the product that the clients have received. Before buying a product, the client must test out its function and compare them with other similar products first before deciding to buy them. However, the clients could not compare them on e-commerce websites.
  • Delivery: After purchasing the products online, it will take some time for the products to arrive and the clients will not receive it immediately. The delivery time could be extended for weeks or months to arrive due to delivery issues.
